Summer 2020 Update (Animation)

Welcome once again to Professor Amethyst’s blog. I know that all of the people reading this (read: no one at all) are awaiting news for “On Distant Shores”. Well wonder no more. After seeing a lot of the new visual novels coming out, it appears that people who are interested in being successful include high quality animations in their titles. Well, I can’t do high quality animations, so be prepared for low to medium quality animations in my game. I have completed six animations. Two of them I’m happy about and the other four I’m ambivalent about. I will admit it does add some much needed pizazz. So, I’ll press forward in this direction.
Most of the game is traditional still image renders. However, there are a few key scenes which have more impact with the ability to animate what is happening. I have to go back and re-do 10 more scenes because of this. So, it will take time. It means I am having to work on what is already complete rather than making forward progress. It’s irritating, but I think the end product will be better for it.
It is also giving me the opportunity to clean up some of the dialogue and narration on older scenes that really help them flow smoother. As is obvious from this post, I am WAY too wordy for my own good. It is what it is and I am who I am, so you get what you get. I will not release this title until I have gotten all this taken care of. Trying to be realistic I think I can get the first 17-20 days of the game out this year. This goes out to all the people not reading any of this (you know who you are). Thanks and see you soon.
